Was he a Committmentphobe? He knew I was a "nice girl" beforehand?

A guy I know has rep. for being a player, but pursued me for 5 years, promised he's changed. I finally decided to go out with him. He is special forces miltary, and travels for a living so we would have had a LDR. He told me and my friends I meant more to him than a casual fling, and asked me to bk a flight to c him on base and also meet him in a big city over holiday and wanted to "get to know me better" and had me get a I picked him up at the airport and when we got to the room he said he was starving. I offered him a leftover cupcake and he said Ok, now your scaring me. He sd he couldnt wait to have me fly 2 see him at his base. B4 we could evn ordr dinnr he said he wanted to tell me he didn't care who I slept with next week when he was gone, and that if things didn't "work out" I could refund my flight to c him. I asked why he put up this wall, he said he's bn hurt b4. We got bk to rm and he tried to have distant w me. He asked if I trusted him, I said no, and he RAN! why?
