I cancelled on this guy twice in a row because of a family emergency. What do i do?

I can't stand the phrase 'family emergency' to me this would mean a close relative had a heart attack [or similar] when in reality uncle Bart got drunk and beat his wife again--and she blew me off for that, so if it were me I would not notify you again, I would sit back and see what you do when you're finally done with your family issues.
