LLC and Worker Comp. Insurance?

Can i give someone 10% of the shares in my LLC and then they would be excluded from having to have workers comp. insurance for them? I don't want to give them the shares for this reason alone but i am wondering if this would be an added bonus of this. Thanks. I live in California if that makes a difference.
